2017 Conowingo Dam Open House

The Conowingo Dam opens its doors to the public only once a year!  See how clean, reliable electricity is generated using the power of the Susquehanna River.  We expect over 1,000 visitors over this two-day family friendly event.  The tour includes an in-depth look at operations inside the hydroelectric power station.

Background: Conowingo is the largest producer of renewable energy in Maryland, capable of generating 572 megawatts of clean energy. The dam is currently in the relicensing process, having been a source of clean, reliable energy for thousands of residents and businesses for more than 80 years. Each year, more than 250,000 visitors enjoy the recreation provided by Conowingo Dam, which includes the preservation of thousands of acres of open space for hiking, bike riding and photography and access to the Susquehanna River for fishing, boating and kayaking.
