2018 Bald Eagle Photo Contest

PHOTO REQUIREMENTS

Photos must feature Eagles in either Maryland or Pennsylvania.

RESTRICTIONS

Photos must be appropriate for public display and posting on a public website. Obscene, provocative, or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. Exelon retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.

Photos containing recognizable people must be accompanied by a signed photo release form.

Photos must not contain evidence of harm or damage to the environment, an animal, or a person—including the infringement of a person’s rights or harassment of wildlife.

ELIGIBILITY

Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than you.

Only recent photos (taken within the last two years) are eligible.

Entrants must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

All submissions are subject to contest rules. Failure to adhere to the contest criteria will result in immediate disqualification.

Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.

HOW TO ENTER

Up to two unique photographs may be submitted by an entrant, and each photo must be accompanied by a corresponding entry form. If more than two images are submitted- ted by an entrant, only the first two entries will be considered.

All photo entries can be provided on CD- ROM or DVD as digital files (see “PHOTO FORMATS” for specifications). If submitting multiple entries, multiple digital photo files may be written to a single disc.

Each entry form must be completed in full. IMPORTANT:  Be sure to enter the exact name of your corresponding digital photo file on the entry form.

In order to win, all information provided must be accurate and complete. 

Submissions must be received by December 31, 2018.

PHOTO FORMATS 

Digital image resolution should be no less than 1 megapixel, or 2270 by 1700 pixels. Images should be submitted in JPEG (at high quality) or TIFF format.

Digital images will not be returned. Photo prints will not be accepted.

Image Modifications: Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. 

Images must be in natural color (see following). 

Not Permitted: No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. Black and white, sepia tone, and duotone images are not eligible.
Panoramic photos are not eligible. 

JUDGING

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, originality, subject matter, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of the Eagle. A panel of judges will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the rules will be disqualified. 

WINNERS

Winners will be notified by February 28, 2019, by phone or email as indicated on the entry form.

Winning photographs, along with the photographer’s name, email address (optional) and information about the photo, will be placed on display at Exelon’s Muddy Run and Conowingo Visitor Center facilities.

OWNERSHIP/USE RIGHTS

Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that Exelon may display winning photos in a “past winners” photo gallery and in Exelon print and electronic materials and may make and retain copies of the photo- graph for archival purposes. Photos will be credited to the photographer named on the entry form.

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Exelon is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that is human or technical in nature. Furthermore, Exelon is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the trans- mitting or processing of entries. 

Exelon reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that it has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/ criteria described above.

By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless Exelon and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting.
